Student leaders at Summitview
During the 2024/25 school year, Summitview formed its first 5th Grade Student Leadership Team under the guidance and supervision of staff members Katie Heary, Faith Sullivan, Susan Olden, and Kim Eakin.
Student leaders help lead PBIS Expectation walks that are implemented after any break longer than three days. They help remind and model behavior expectations for the hallways, bathrooms, cafeteria, stairs, and recess areas.
Every day, student leaders help to lead the morning announcements and the Pledge of Allegiance. In addition, student leaders hold the doors at recess every day, helping the entire school to transition in and out for a smooth break each morning and afternoon.
Student leaders also meet periodically with the District’s Director of Child Nutrition, Magieline Benedicto, to discuss food services and to give student input on menu items.
Student leaders also help with awards assemblies at Summitview.
The work of the Student Leadership Team has been noticeable this year. Several fourth-grade students have inquired about serving next school year on the Student Leadership Team.
Student leaders are “making a difference” at Summitview Elementary!
